Bird hunting for quail with a German Shorthaired Pointer bird dog in Pennsylvania- In this video we go out to train Zeke, BownHunter’s German shorthaired pointer, to point and retrieve quail in Western Pennsylvania. We released the birds about 50 yards away from the dog and would walk up with Zeke to allow him to find the birds for us. While we know a general area of where the birds are when we release them, its great training for Zeke to be able to sniff them out and point for us, which he did extremely well. This was one of his first times out pointing WITH shooting, so we wanted his attention to be on the point, not on the gun shot, which he did extremely well with. This week’s episode focuses on the in’s and out’s of pheasant hunting in Kansas. The show opens in Huguton, Kansas on opening day of pheasant season. The crew quickly finds out that Kansas lives up to its reputation of a pheasant paradise. Ron and the guys then go to a Pheasant Heaven Charity event for a taste of Kansas hospitality.
